ETHICAL SOURCING POLICY

ETHICS

Beauty Works is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of ethics and sustainability within its operations and supply chain.

As a repeat signatory to the UN Global Compact, Beauty Works aligns its operations with the Ten Principles in areas including human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. The company's adherence to these principles is seen as essential not only to its ethical obligations but also to its long-term success. To further these commitments, Beauty Works has set key goals including conducting independent social compliance audits, achieving sourcing traceability for raw hair supply, and providing Ethical Sourcing and Human Rights training for all factories.

SUPPLY CHAIN

As we’re part of Beauty Industry Group vendors and their contractors in the U.S. and other countries are expected to operate in a manner that respects the rights of people and to abide by BIG’s Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct requires that vendors and their contractors who provide products to BIG not engage in any labor practices that violate the laws and regulations of the country where the products are manufactured or assembled and not engage in any unsanitary or unsafe labor conditions.

Central to the Beauty Works’ ethos is a commitment to responsible sourcing, ensuring that all goods are sourced and manufactured in adherence to UK/EU employment codes of conduct and a firm commitment to human rights.

The company's approach to supply chain management is rooted in transparency and responsibility, with a continuous effort to establish compliance and social responsibility. This commitment extends to the sourcing of 100% human hair and related accessories from a diverse network of international vendors across regions including India, Asia, Eastern Europe, and China. Beauty Works has set an enterprise-wide ethical sourcing policy and has implemented a supplier assessment system to ensure the highest ethical standards are maintained.

 SUSTAINABILITY

Recognising the importance of environmental stewardship, Beauty Works is actively working to reduce its use of plastics, promising a significant decrease from 2023 to 2025, reflecting its dedication to sustainability.

Currenrty over 60% of what we sell at the moment is recyclable & FSC compliant and we’re looking to get closer to 100% in the next 5 years.

Whilst human hair is naturally bio-degradable and can be added to a compost bin at home, there are salon services to dispose of unwanted hair in a more sustainable manner.

Additionally, BIG provides an annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report, a copy of which can be found HERE which details BIGs initiatives around an ethical supply chain.
