What's the salon backstory and how was it founded?
Just before lockdown, I took a huge risk and invested all my savings in a salon space above a tanning salon and spent all of lockdown decorating the salon. Because the salon was upstairs and slightly ‘hidden’, I decided to call the salon The Secret Hair Club. My aim was to work by myself for 6 months and then consider taking on staff, but within 6 weeks I had a 9-week waiting list so I had to find another stylist, and in September my first stylist Ellie joined me. Then in December before the second lockdown the owner of the tanning salon offered me the whole shop as they were closing. During the second lockdown I decorated the downstairs and The Secret Hair & Beauty Club was born!
Why does The Secret Hair Club use Beauty Works extensions?
I started using Beauty Works as the brand had a good reputation, so I wanted to try the extensions. I continue to use Beauty Works 3 years later because the hair is long-lasting, the colour range is amazing, and the quality is incomparable. I’ve never had a single issue with any of the hair I have ordered for myself and clients.
What is the key service that you offer?
We are a hair extensions specialist salon, mainly using Tape Extensions, but we also offer Micro Ring, Weft Extensions and Nano Extensions. We also specialise in balayage.
What's your advice for anyone thinking of getting extensions?
Hair extensions are an investment and need to be treated like one with the aftercare. Hair extensions can be genuinely life changing for people who have always hated their hair. Once you have them, you will never go back!
Why do you love your job?
I love my job because of my clients and the relationships I get to build with people I probably would have never met. The transformations are so satisfying, and I honestly think being a hair stylist is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world!
