What Does International Women's Day Mean to You?
“It’s a great day to shine a light on a cause that celebrates women who have been successful — whether in the workplace or as mothers. Our mission is to ensure women have equal rights across the world.”
WHAT MADE YOU START BEAUTY WORKS?
"I wanted to be able to provide women with gorgeous hair and make them feel better about themselves by having beautiful hair"
Name 1 woman who inspires and empowers you?
"That's really hard as there's so many amazing women but for me it would probably have to be somebody in business and somebody in the beauty and hair sector so I'd say Estée Lauder"
WHAT'S YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?
"In business it would be setting up Beauty Works from day one, where I used to work out of my bedroom with my husband, to what it is today - a global recognised brand with offices in America and the UK. But for me its also rewarding to see the staff that have joined us over the years and the business growing."
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO BUSINESS WOMEN JUST STARTING OUT?
"To be patient, if you make a mistake or things don't work out the first time, keep trying. If you fail, you're going to learn something - try again the next day. Do your research, ask for favours from friends and family in the early stages. In the early stages I would ask my sister, my mum, my friends to help with packing orders, trade events, shows and in exchange I'd give them free hair"
WHAT’S THE MOST INSPIRING QUOTE YOU’VE HEARD?
