With eight years of experience working with Beauty Works extensions, Alice Sweeney has turned her passion for hair into a business of her own. Having opened Alice Sweeney Studios in Kent just seven months ago, she's created a welcoming space where hair extensions are at the heart of everything she does.
For our latest Salon Spotlight, we caught up with Alice to find out more about her salon, how she's built her business around hair extensions and her approach to creating personalised transformations.

Alice Sweeney Studios is a calm, welcoming and judgement-free space where every client can feel comfortable and confident.
Although her salon has only been open for seven months, Alice has worked with Beauty Works throughout her entire eight-year hairdressing career.
"My salon is a calm, welcoming and judgement-free space where I want every client to feel beautiful, comfortable and accepted."
For Alice, it's about more than creating beautiful hair. She takes the time to understand each client's individual needs, ensuring every transformation is tailored to their hair goals.
Building a Business Around Hair Extensions
Hair extensions aren't just an additional service at Alice Sweeney Studios. They're the foundation of her business.
Today, around 60% of Alice's clients are hair extension clients, making extensions her main source of income.
"Hair extensions are at the heart of my business, so they're hugely important to me. My whole business is centred around extensions."
With most extension clients returning every 6–8 weeks for maintenance, Alice has built a consistent appointment schedule while developing long-term relationships with her clients.
Creating Personalised Hair Transformations
Throughout her career, Alice has seen how the demand for extensions has evolved. While some clients still want extra length, others are looking for more subtle enhancements, from adding volume and density to introducing colour.
"Everyone's hair and goals are different, so as a professional I love being able to recommend what I feel is most suitable for each individual, whilst still managing expectations."
One of Alice's favourite ways to introduce clients to extensions is by offering to apply a single extension for them to try before committing to a full application.
This allows clients to experience how naturally extensions can blend and feel more confident about their decision.
Building Trust Through Education and Aftercare
For Alice, client relationships are just as important as the finished transformation.
Many of her new clients discover her through social media, where she shares her extension knowledge and expertise alongside her work.
"I try to showcase my knowledge and education around extensions, not just the results."
Alice also makes a point of checking in with clients after their appointments and providing ongoing advice to help them maintain both their extensions and natural hair.
Having worked with Beauty Works for eight years, she credits professional education with helping her develop the confidence and skills to offer extensions to a high standard.
"Beauty Works education has been such a big part of my journey. I've always found their education really supportive and easy to learn from."
Alice's Advice to Other Salon Owners
Having built her business around extensions, Alice believes more salon owners should recognise the opportunities they can bring.
"I'd say look at the proof. There are so many stylists who have built successful businesses around extensions alone, which shows just how much opportunity there is."
With demand continuing to grow for everything from full transformations to subtle enhancements, Alice believes extensions are becoming an increasingly important part of the hairdressing industry.
